The Veterans Resource Center at the MCFL King City Branch was
established through a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under
the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by
the State Librarian.
Staffed by volunteers, is dedicated to helping veterans and their families connect with
the benefits they have earned through their years of service and sacrifice.
Trained volunteers at each station provide assistance connecting veterans to resources
both in and outside of the Library. This includes access to
and pamphlets on various topics including:
- Transitioning from military to civilian life
- Finding jobs
- Surviving change
- Veterans’ benefits
- Managing post-traumatic stress disorders.
Computer and wi-fi access is also available at all MCFL locations.
We are available to assist you at the library in person or over the phone at
831-385-3677 every Friday from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

The Veterans Resource Center at the MCFL
King City Branch asks for your help in our effort to capture the
voices, experiences, and life stories of our local veterans, to
be preserved and presented with dignity for the larger
community. If you are a veteran, or know one that you
think would be interested, ask them to join us for a day of
special interviews about your experiences as a veteran.

recordings will use
The Listening Station, an iPad based tool for capturing
audio recordings or video recordings of two people in
conversation. During a half hour long session, you will be
assisted in preparing for a conversation with questions and
topics, oriented to the equipment, and then record 15-30 minutes
on the topic.
You will immediately receive your
recording via an online system. The stories will become
part of the Monterey County Free Public Library Archive as well
as the California State Library.
The Listening Station was developed by Berkeley-based StoryCenter.
